Verse Runner

Privacy Policy

Plain-language version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and you can delete everything at any time.

Last updated October 26, 2026 · Published by Scripture Memory Fellowship ("we", "us")

The short version

  • Verse Runner has no ads, no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell personal information.
  • You can play as a guest without an account. Guest progress stays on the device.
  • Accounts are for a parent, guardian or adult. We ask for a nickname or name and an email address — nothing else about a child.
  • You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app or on the web.

What we collect

InformationWhy we need it
Account details — a name (a nickname works) and an email address, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash, so we can't read it).To create and sign in to an account, and to send a password-reset email if you ask for one.
Game progress — verses completed and best accuracy, coins, owned and selected pals, streak, streak freezes, completed runs, and settings (Bible translation, music and sound on/off, current collection). So progress is saved to your account and follows you to a new device.
Device name (for example "iPhone") and a sign-in token. To keep you signed in on that device and let you sign out of it.
IP address and basic server logs.Security: to limit repeated sign-in attempts and to keep the service running. Kept only for a limited time.
Records of emails we send you (such as password resets). To troubleshoot delivery problems. These records are blanked when your account is deleted.

If you contact us through the form, we also keep your message and the details you entered so we can help you.

What we don't collect

  • No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, and no behavioral tracking.
  • No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data.
  • No payment information. The game does not sell anything inside the app.

Guests

If you never create an account, your progress is stored only on your device. The app still contacts our server to download the list of verse collections and verse text, which means our server sees an IP address in its normal logs, but nothing about you is stored with it.

Who handles the information

We use a small number of service providers to run Verse Runner, and they may process data on our behalf only to provide their service:

  • Amazon Web Services — hosts our servers and database, and sends our emails (Amazon SES).
  • 123FormBuilder — runs the contact form on our Support page. What you type into that form (such as your name, email address and message) is handled by 123FormBuilder and sent to us so we can reply.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — protects the web sign-in, sign-up and password-reset forms from automated abuse. Google's privacy policy applies to that check.
  • Apple — distributes the app. Apple may give us anonymous, aggregate information about downloads and crashes; it does not tell us who you are.

We don't sell or rent personal information and we don't share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

Verse Runner is made for families, and children may play it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without a parent's or guardian's consent. That's why accounts are meant to be created by a parent, guardian or other adult, and why guest play collects nothing. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete your account from the app (Account → Delete account) or at verserunner.com/delete-account.php. Deleting removes your account, progress and sign-in tokens, and blanks our email records for you.
  • See or correct your information or ask us to delete it for you through our contact form.
  • Reminders: daily streak reminders are optional, are scheduled on your device, and can be turned off in the app or in iPhone Settings.

Data in our routine backups can take a short time to age out after you delete an account.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as hashes, and sign-in tokens are stored hashed as well. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can reach it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or by email.
